Welcome to a new golf season

Due to the poor economy last year, we did not have a dues increase.  Yet we were still able to make some course improvements.  Resurfacing of the cart path between holes #1 and #2 was completed.  Drain tile was laid in the fairway of hole #3 to improve drainage.  Jim Oase did an excellent job of trimming trees on the entire golf course.  It is because of the support of our membership and the dedication of our grounds crew that we were able to accomplish these projects. Thank you!  Please continue to respect the golf course and keep maintenance costs down by fixing all divots and ball marks.  Remember to drive golf carts in the rough whenever possible and maintain a 30 foot distance from the greens.  It is also important to make tee times and check in at the clubhouse before golfing to show respect for all golfers.

Our goals for the 2010 season include continued repair of cart paths and improving drainage.  Landscaping and improvements around the clubhouse will also be made, including removing the tree and repairing the practice green.  Course improvements on hole #1 involve a sand  trap to the left of the green and a possible “wash board” on the upslope approaching the green to make the hole a bit more challenging.

The dues discount will be applied similar to last year.  A 10% dues discount will be applied if members pay with cash or check by Tuesday, April 20th at the Men’s Kickoff Event.  Any fees not paid at this time will be assessed a 1.5% late fee on the next statement.

 Fundraising

Please continue to support the golf fundraisers.  The Bulldog Golf Open will be held June 6th.  This is a four person scramble tournament with 50% of the entry fee donated to the Milbank High School boys and girls golf teams.  The cold, wet spring weather shortens the girls’ season and some of the proceeds will go towards indoor hitting nets and putting greens to allow the girls to start their season on time.  The Bulldog Football Open is scheduled for June 19th.  This is a fundraising event for the Milbank High School Football program.
